Buses on the Dominican Republic are comfortable and reliable, which makes them an ideal way for vacationers to tour the island's major cities. Tourists can makes reservations to catch a ride on one of the island's three privately owned air-conditioned bus lines. These buses regularly travel from the country's capital of Santo Domingo to destinations such as Puerto Plata, Santiago, and many others. Most buses only travel to the country's larger cities, so you will need to find another method of transportation if you want to go anywhere else. Metro Buses are the higher end of the bus line choices and offer their passengers complimentary cookies and coffee. Caribe is another line of buses that gives their passengers a little something extra during their trip. These buses show bilingual movies and are popular with the locals and those traveling with families. The cost to ride one of these private coaches is about $6(USD) for a one way trip between major cities like Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata. Here is schedule of bus lines and departure times:
Service from Santo Domingo to La Roma is provided by Express Bus and leaves every hour on the hour from 5:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m. Vacationers can not make reservations for these buses, as the bus line has no office or telephone.
