Location

Puerto Plata and Playa Dorada

Together, Puerto Plata and Playa Dorado have a lot to offer tourists.  Here, vacationers will find a wealth of attractions that will enhance their time on the island, from horseback riding and tours of historic architecture to golf and even an exciting nightlife.  Most hotels are situated in the Playa Dorada area, with rental properties and all-inclusives dominating.  The Bungalows All-Inclusive Resort and Lifestyle the Residence Suites are two such options.

Santiago

Santo Domingo

The Republic has several all-inclusive resorts, which gives vacationers the ability to book almost every aspect of their stay in one place and pay for it on one easy to understand bill. This option is popular among many tourists. Most all-inclusive lodgings cover meals and beverages, the actual room, and some activities, which appeals to many people's budgets.

All-inclusive accommodations aren't the only resort choices. The Dominican Republic also has a multitude of hotels and resorts that differ in style and price range. Vacationers can choose from lavish, more expensive hotels, some of which have golf courses and spas, and smaller, more charming hotels and inns. Finding the perfect accommodations for you during your Dominican Republic vacation means taking many different factors into consideration.  Making a list of the things that are important to your group will help to narrow it down.

Group Size

Depending upon the number of people you are traveling with, you may be looking for a property that can accommodate a large group.  Your typical hotel will require to you reserve several rooms to fit everyone comfortably, but if you locate a hotel that specializes in suites, or a rental villa with several rooms like Costa Del Sol I, you may be able to save money.

Smaller families may not need a lot of space, but they will want to find a space known for treating kids like royalty.  Some locations have babysitting services, kids clubs, and daily activities for families to participate in together. Meanwhile, adults traveling without children, and who are looking to get wild during their trip, may feel more comfortable limiting their interactions with the younger generation and experience hotels on the island featuring entertainment and nightlife. Length of Stay

One and Two Stars

At a 1 Star property, the hotel will be a small location, likely owned and operated by the same person or family.  This may mean more personalized care and fewer amenities.  The rooms won't necessarily be large, but they will do the job for vacationers who plans to spend a lot of time out exploring the island. The Dominican Republic's 1 Star properties include Rancho Wendy, Club Villas Jazmin, and Hotel Acaya, and will range from $5(USD) to $100 (USD).

Two Star properties are medium in size, but still contain smaller rooms.  The hotel might be locally owned, or it might be a part of a small national chain.  The amenities will still be your typical hotel offerings, but rarely with extras, and the service will be a little better than what the 1 Stars have to offer. The Dominican Republic's 2 Star properties include Victoria Golf & Beach Resort, Tropical Orquidea Club All-Inclusive, Stanza Mare Coral Comfort, and Hotel Palacio, and will range from $20 to $150(USD).

Three Stars

The hotels in the Dominican Republic with 3 Stars are more spacious, and feature a wider array of amenities.  The rooms typically are not too fancy, but still much nicer than the lower rated properties.  These locations will have room service, and maybe even a restaurant or two on site. The Dominican Republic's 3 Star properties include Hotel Riu Taino, Windsurf Resort, and Tropical Sueno Resort and Spa Club All-Inclusive, and will range from $45 to $200(USD).

Four Stars

Four Star properties are above average, with large rooms, excellent amenities, and even better service.  The rooms will be well-appointed, clean, and decked out with extras like flat screen televisions. The Dominican Republic's 4 Star properties include Vik Hotel Arena All-Inclusive and Melia Caribe Tropical, and will range from $75 to $300(USD).

Five Stars

The 5 Star accommodations in the Dominican Republic are the best of the best.  These hotels have very spacious rooms, linens that make you want to sink right into bed, carefully selected decorations, luxury amenities, and the best service on the island. The Dominican Republic's 1 Star properties include Grand Oasis Marian All-Inclusive Resort, Casa Colonial Beach and Spa, Barcelo Bavaro Palace, and Barcelo Bavaro Beach, and will range from $100 to $500(USD).
